It the funniest thing singing Christmas carols and having Christmas lights put up all around campus and there being not being any snow on the ground. Just before finals Taylor went to his mailbox and found a package that his mother had said was coming. We were told that it was for the both of us to “play” with. Come to find out they were reindeer puppets that his little sisters Jordan and Abby made for us. We both got a chuckle out of it and had to take a picture of them.

Sam came down to PCC for college days which took place during thanksgiving weekend. Thought I am fully aware she wasn’t there to see me, it was really nice to be able to spend time with her and Marc. We did all sorts of things that weekend. They had a nice breakfast set up for us on Thanksgiving morning. Jenn’s parents were also in town so we kept busy with the Turkey Bowl, fine arts and classes. Fine Arts took place on 3 different days: Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Marc took Sam to Fine Arts on Thursday, so I was able to help her get ready….she was beautiful. Friday night, Taylor and went along with the Garelicks and P.J. We attended the “Miracle Worker” a play about Helen Keller. I had so much fun with Katie (Jenn’s little sister, who is also going to be attending PCC next fall) and Jenn getting ready for Fine Arts. Before any occasion, Jenn always come up to my room and we get ready together. My roommates hate how we make a mess and they make me promise to clean it up as soon as we get back.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Taylor and I were able to spend some time with Marc and Sam; most of the time we just bummed around the sports center. For me it was like old times; it was nice just the three of us hanging out again. It was nice to reminisce about our high school days and also talk about the future. I was excited when Sam announced that she would be attending PCC next fall. We were sad to see her go, but happy to know that there would be many more nights just hanging out and being crazy in the future.

This summer I worked at Scooters Malt Shoppe again for the second summer in a row. I loved my job and I loved my customers. I was able to meet so many new people. This past Tuesday was my last day of work, I was glad to be off work after working nearly every day for the past 3 months, putting in anywhere from 5 hours to 11 in a day, but I was sad to say goodbye to all the great friends that I had made. We had a lot of fun and did a bunch of crazy things that I will never forget. This is the first and last time that all of us girls worked together. (dont ask what we are doing)

It started off with Kayla, April and I all going to get our hair done together. Then a fine meal at Brooks Lodge, and to finish off the night we went to Craig's Cruisers. What a blast!

Sorry folks no pictures today. I’m having trouble uploading them at the hotel. After church this morning we traveled to NYC stopping at a cemetery to see Tom Thumb and Fanny Crosby’s grave sites. I am glad that Mr.B was driving cuz it was way crazy once we hit New York City. We saw a bit of the city, saw the Brooklyn Bridge. Took a few pictures (which I can’t show you) We are staying in a nice hotel in New Jersey and will take a bus into the city tomorrow.

Today we went to another mansion called the Marble House which at one time was owned by a Vanderbilt. The tour guide was a set of head phones that they gave us with a key pad. It was pretty neat to see how they used to live during that time period.
After that we stopped off in Hartford CT to visit good ole Mark Twain. We had a nice guided tour inside of his house where he lived for almost 17 years. I was in the exact same room where he sat and wrote my favorite book "The Adventures of Huck Fin." It was pretty cool. Well right now, after a very nice Chinese dinner I’m starting to nod off in my very nice hotel room………

My Second Day Of Senior Trip

After a long night of sleep (the others weren’t so lucky) and a long night of NOT watching the Kansas vs Memphis game we all departed together to see the Old South Church. We spent about 2 hours there with the pastor being shown everything there was to see including the steeple. AHHH!!! The creaky steps were almost too much for me but the view from the top made it all worthwhile. My favorite thing was when he showed us George Whitfield’s desk. Then we moved on to the Atlantic Ocean after a very, very, very bumpy ride down there. We spent a few moments collecting sea shells and listening to the waves. We spent a great deal of time climbing in the rocks to stay away from the water but it was in-between the rocks where we found the most beautiful sea shells. Then off to Concord we went. After a wonderful movie on all of the tragic events we walked through the battle field and the Old North Bridge were the King's men and the Militia fought. And so I call it a day…..my feet are tired….and I have found lobster is not my favorite food. Though I do like scallops and I’m not even sure what they are.

Day One Of My Senior Trip

Standing on the side of the falls reminded me just how great God really is. The beauty of it was breathtaking. The odor that clung to us even after a nice lunch at Subway left much to be desired……… but over all it was a great experience. We started this 16 hour trip in a silver 12 passenger van at about 5:30 this morning. After stopping to pick up Miss Moody and Marc and having a great breakfast of donuts, we pressed on. Heading first to Canada to see Niagara Falls we then continued on to Boston where we will spend the next few days. This trip is bound to be exciting with 1 month old Knox who is proven to be a great traveler and a great companion. He is often ready to give us a smile….or a confused and worried look. Now we are safely tucked in at our nice warm hotel excited for what tomorrow may bring.

New Cheerleading Video Game
THG announced they will start production of a new video game, All Star Cheer Squad, that will be released this fall for the Wii and Nintendo DS. Tony G, the famous choreographer of the Bring It On series, is being hired as the chief consultant on the game. Quoting from the THG press release, they said, "In All Star Cheer Squad, players will follow a year in the life of a cheerleader as they learn new cheers, participate in practices and create their own routines to make the squad and eventually become captain. High-energy game play includes squad competitions and one-on-one cheer-offs, where players will use the Wii Remote(TM) and Nunchuk to perform dozens of real-world cheer and dance moves. All Star Cheer Squad will also incorporate use of the Wii Balance Board(TM) to get the player's entire body involved in the game and add to the ultimate cheerleading experience. Players will be able to customize the look of their cheerleader and squad including body, facial features, hair and outfits. The Nintendo DS version of the game will feature a storyline unique to the system that focuses on the adventure of cheerleading camp, where players will compete to beat the rival camp."

HABBANIYAH, Iraq (Feb. 26, 2008) -- In the early morning hours of Feb. 23, Marines of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 1, heard gunshots in the distance, which quickly escalated into a spontaneous gunfight. The Marines located the source of the fire, after a short assessment of the situation, and upon request from Provincial Security Forces (PSF), they patrolled to a warehouse where the gunfight was taking place. With the PSF already battling the insurgents, the Marines quickly set up a cordon and provided security for the Iraqi police. “The PSF immediately responded to the incident and requested our support,” said Sgt. Robert K. Breese, the Co. G watch officer during the attack. “The PSF battled and neutralized the insurgents, with the Marines providing security just in case (the firefight) turned bad.” This incident shows how the Iraqis are no longer relying on the Marines to come in and eliminate threats; rather they are taking matters into their own hands, fending off enemies themselves, for the safety of their country. “Golf (Company) showed tremendous discipline when they arrived, allowing the Iraqi police to finish what they started,” said Maj. Gary A. Bourland, the battalion watch officer at the time. “A year ago, the Marines would have shown up to a situation like this and immediately eliminated the enemy themselves. Now, it’s almost as if we look over their shoulders and, if necessary, take down the enemy.”The insurgent forces detonated two Personnel Borne Improvised Explosive Devices during the battle, killing themselves. There was said to be a third PBIED, but the Iraqi Police neutralized the insurgent before it could be detonated. The Iraqi police also reported that the vehicle the insurgents were traveling in was a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device, which resulted in the Marines widening their cordon to accommodate for the possible VBIED. “They’re learning to take initiative and eliminate threats on their own,” said Breese, a 30-year-old from White Water, Wis. “Although two PBIEDs detonated, the PSF did a good job and gave us good (intelligence), which caused us to widen our security.” Bourland agreed and said, “The IPs and PSF are becoming more proactive and aware, not just complacent on their posts. There was a Sheikhs meeting going on later in the day about five or six miles from where this all happened. Their insight stopped a potential attack at the meeting or to another hard target.”Though the threats were eliminated with minimal friendly casualties, three members of the PSF were killed-in-action and one was wounded-in-action.

I have found that having a nephew is great. Having two is going to be a blast! It's Probably the best thing that has happened to me yet. Just think you can play with them, feed them all sorts of stuff that Mommy doesn't want them to have and then send them home when their hyperness becomes to much for you. With Hudson being born Isaac doesn't realize how his life is going to change. Now he will have to share the attention of his favorite four Uncles with this little new comer, and those fruit snacks that he finds in JuJu's room. One of these days he's not going to be able to woof them all down before anyone asks him to share. Taking him to the hospital this past week to meet Hudson for the first time was a treasure. Right away upon meeting him he connected "Momma's belly and "Hudson's noise" to the squalling infant. It's cute to hear him talk about Hudson and the hospital.

December 7 was definitely a night to remember! It was our last "official game" for v-ball and the boy's first basketball game!(They won!)Both of us tore it up out there on the floor. We played 3 out of 5 games. That went really quick. It was the funnest game I have ever played. Serves were good! Spikes were okay, and we played half-way decent:) We only injured a few of the Lansing Baptist girls:) The first two games we played hard and there was a big gap in the score in our favor. The last game we kind of ridiculous and the crowd was holding their breath, but we pulled through! I'm going to miss playing with my team! Go Blue!!!!

On Wednesday nights, Pastor Adam has been taking us through a study on Joseph. His main texts have been Genesis41:14-49 and Geneses 45. He has pointed out two essential things that every Christian needs to have, good leadership and a good response. There are six attributes of leadership that are found in vs14-48 of chapter 41. If you are going to be a good leader you must have these qualities; appearance (14), humility (16), truthfulness (28-32), wise in action (33-36), Spirit of God (38) and you have to be fair in all dealings (46-48).
His second point is, "Responding with Good." Look at Joseph's life. He was sold into slavery at about 17, sent to prison and then made second in Egypt. So he is about 35 when his brothers came looking for food. One of the questions put in front of us was "Why do you think Joseph responded to his brothers the way he did?" In man's eyes Joseph had every right to to be angry with his brothers for their betrayal. But Joseph responded with good rather then evil. His gladness to see his brothers could have only been sent from God. His reaction showed what was really on his heart. He was second in command, he could have done anything he wanted to them. On the road again!

Look here! I’m standing in the Gulf of Mexico. I think the water was warmer than the sand. I collected some very interesting shells that were huge compared to the ones from the beaches in Uruguay. As many of you know, I had the opportunity to fly down to Pensacola Christian Collage last weekend. It was a 7 hour trip between air time and layovers. I switched planes in Cincinnati and Atlanta. I stayed in the dorms with some great girls; two were freshman and one was a senior. I got there about two o’clock in the afternoon and wondered around campus. It was so beautiful. Huge! They have about 4,000 students. I nearly walked into a men’s dorm.

I had to go to the administration office to see when Janae Anderson’s (friend from high school) next class was so I could catch up with her. She was surprised to see me at the door of her Lit class. I attended the campus church that night. It is HUGE! It’s college kids and local families that attend. They were very informal like I’m used to at Prairie so I fit in well. It’s just a tad bigger. J They had an ice cream social afterward for all the “guests.” I met some nice girls who were planning on attending next fall. I met them for breakfast the next morning and then we attended classes together.

The first class I went to was a second year graphic design 101 class. They were designing a book cover. They use all the Adobe products that I’m used to. The only problem is they use MACs. Andrew (brother) is forever trying to get my family to switch over. I also attended the beginner’s class for design. Very interesting I must say. If I attend PCC I will have to take drawing 1 and learn how to paint! AHHHH! I also went to Janae’s Old Testament class. There were hundred kids in that class. I sat behind a kid that kept nodding off to sleep!

We had dinner together and then I went to cheerleading practice. I saw them do all of the things that I’ve wanted to do all of the years I’ve cheered. They made it seem so easy! LOL! After practice I spent the rest of the night up with Janae in the dorm getting her in trouble. It was quiet hours up there and we had a lot to talk about! She didn’t get much studying done! The next morning they packed us all up in a bus and took us to the beach and then to the airport. I’m not sure if PCC is where God is leading but I can definitely see myself down there, lost in crowds all of the time! Please continue to pray for me. I have a ton of decisions to make in the upcoming weeks.

Keep in mind this actually really did happen!!!! This is someone who was moving from an insurance claims office.

Okay so this is how I imagine this conversation went:

Walmart Employee: "Hello 'dis Walmarts, how can I help you?"

Customer: " I would like to order a cake for a going away party this week."

Walmart Employee: "What you want on the cake?"

Customer: "Best Wishes Suzanne" and underneath that "We will miss you".

God will not abuse us and then loose us!

This Wednesday night in teen group, Pastor Adam talked on how God will not abuse you and then loose you, but will abuse you and then use you. He read a true story on how a girl had been abused emotionally, and physically. All her life she turned to things for comfort. She quickly became a workaholic and lost three husbands. It wasn't until she turned to God that she found the peace that she had been searching for. It made me think of James chapter when James writes about having joy in trial vs4 of chapter 1. Then it goes onto say in vs 5 that when our faith is tried it give us patience. It's funny how it all works out, we become a better person and a better Christian though our trials. Then God will use us to do extraordinary things for him.

Home Sweet Home!

After many hours of traveling, I finally made it home to my family, with only a few minor problems. Like having to get off in Buenos Aries and not knowing where to go. I was flying with American Airline, funny thing was no one spoke English! Come to find out I had a three hour layover that wasn't on my itinerary! For a small town country girl who her parents won't even let her bike to work (2 min. away), being in a different country was definitely a new experience for me. Uruguay is a beautiful country. My favorite part was probably the beaches. It's rare to find a home that has dirt in the back yard.There is white sand all over. The people thought I was crazy for bagging some up and bring it home with me. To them it's a royal pain. Oh for those who don't know what I'm talking about, I went on a 2 week missions trip to Uruguay. I stayed with one of the missionary families that our church supports, the Secrests. But I'm sure all of you knew that if you are looking on my blog because my mom built me a shrine on the bulletin board in the school hallway. Now that was embarrassing to come home and find it. I thought I was just sending her an email. Come to find out she was sending every email to over 50 people. But then Moms will be moms!
